HUNTING IN ICELAND

Geese and Ptarmigan in Iceland

We offer two remarkable programmes in Iceland where we work with the leading organisation both for shooting and for salmon and trout fishing.

The first is goose shooting between 20 August and 10 October where two guns share a guide and will be able to shoot greylag, pinkfoot, whitefront and barnacle. The expectation per gun for the whole trip is between 15 and 60 geese and the programme covers an evening goose flight on the first day then three full days shooting early morning and again in the evening while on the fifth day there is a morning shoot only before proceeding to Reykjavik .The price includes all transport from Reykjavik Airport and return, the service of one guide for two guns, the provision of all equipment, decoys, calls, camouflage etc, the provision of Labrador retrievers and full board and lodging during the trip probably in two different lodges. The price per gun for the trip is from US$ 2790 while the price per day for a non shooting guest is from US$ 200.

Iceland uniquely offers ptarmigan shooting over dogs which takes place 15 October - 22 December of which the peak periods are 15 - 24 October and from mid November onwards. Each group of two guns is accompanied by a guide who has English Setters. The expectation is 40 to 100 ptarmigan per gun during the trip depending upon weather conditions. The programme offers four full days shooting. The price per gun is from US$ 2790 and the price for a non-shooting guest is from US$ 1200 for the trip. In the same way as the goose programme all transportation and accommodation is included but tips, ammunition and drinks are extra. The birds move to the lower slopes from mid November onwards with the advent of snow on the higher grounds. Physically this is quite a demanding programme.
